Calculated field to be stored in table
Be able to store the calculated field in the table upon submission or update or basically to be able to define table level calculation and formula
Thank you again for this idea. The feature is now available in all accounts. Look for new Formula Field data type in Table Design. More information can be found at http://howto.caspio.com/tables-and-views/data-types/formula-fields/

If it is no possible to store a calculated field, at least calculated fields should be available in all kinds of datapages.

I wish it had calculated fields, but i suspect the underlining table structure for all Caspio tables are super normalized. AND THAT is likely the reason why CALC FIELD are not happening anytime soon. Unless they decide to offer a TRUE SQL Data Structure, but then the whole platform changes...

Please add this feature ASAP. It is long overdue.

Is this still under review after 3 plus years?

I would rather have the ability to create calculated fields in views instead of tables as I want to avoid breaking the rules of normality as much as possible. I really hope for this to happen iin the next release

This suggestion would remove so many issues that I have with Caspio, for example not being able to record in a table the results of totals and aggregations. Having calculations that allow for sums to be carried out on child records would be so powerful and yet so simple, come on Caspio make this happen.

Please prioritize ! this is really needed. Thanks

This would be a welcome feature.

In June 2012 this was prioritized but it hasn't happened yet. I'm concerned by that.

This should be a priority to add this straight forward feature.

Thanks for the work around. That should be helpful in many cases. I would really love a calculation to occur during an import/update. This is definitely when it would be most beneficial for my purposes.

There is already a work around for storing calculated fields in a table, although it is not a formula in the table that calculates the data. This only works using the reports feature and is not available for form submission. Hope this helps some of you though.
-Add a Text field in the table to save the total.
-In the Configure Details Page Fields screen, choose Form element to Hidden and receive the calculated field, : [@calcfield:1].
-This is a hidden field, but the value will get stored in the table. -

This show that it is under review. And appears to be under review for quite a while now. It seems to me all that would need to happen is allow calculation fields in views as well as filtering based on a calc field. Please figure this one out and implement it as soon as possible.

This is the main drawback to Caspio. In ability to do sucsessive queries (or views)...for example say I am capturing transaction data at a SKU level for a particular business application. If I want to summarize results for each SKU (where each SKU has multiple transactions) and then use the summary results for further reporting or calculations I am unable to do this.
In Access I would write a group by query and then I would write additional queries with this group by query as my source.
This would be awesome if this could be done with Views in Caspio.

In my opinion it is a major drawback that this cannot happen. With out it I have to use MS Access to do a lot of the work. It would be awesome for this to also be able to run calculations and updates to a table on a schedule with out human interference.

It should also support random string generation. e.g. we are using such a field for generating initial customer password.

Hi I would also like to add that the totals and aggregation be better defined by a unique ID This would allow users to use caspio to keep account of their stock if they should require it

I agree completely. This would be wonderful.

Yes, we ended up coding our own way to save calculated information into the table. But I completely agree there should be a way to save calculated info into the table.
