When typing a table/lookup view to a field, there is no way to force the user to ONLY select the options listed. In Access, this was really easy, you attached the "lookup table", and on the form page select limit to list. This forced the user to only to pick from the list available to them. This helps maintain data integerity. We get you can accomplish this in a dropdown, but need it in all other options, "autocomplete", "Cascading autocomplete". The reason we do not like the dropdown is you lose the contain feature, but by gaining the contain feature we lose "limit to list" option.
